
According to police, a 21-year old Canadian-Sikh woman was shot and killed in an apparent “targeted killing” in Canada’s Ontario province. According to a Peels Regional Police press release, the victim was identified as Pawanpreet from Brampton. She was shot and killed by an unknown assailant Saturday night in Mississauga, Ontario province.
According to the Toronto Sun newspaper Kaur was shot in front of a gas station. Police received information that a woman was shot around 10:39 PM. They arrived at the scene to find the victim with gunshot wounds. The press release stated that while life-saving measures were taken, the victim died from her injuries. Police believe that it was a “targeted” attack.
According to Tim Nagtegaal, Duty-Inspector, Kaur was declared dead on the spot according to the news report. The suspect was not identified. Nagtegaal stated that “we are not able to at this time state the sex suspect”, but only that the suspect was seen leaving the scene in all dark clothes. He added that the suspect was seen running away from the scene in all dark clothes.
According to the Toronto Sun, an eyewitness Carmela Sandoval stated that she saw Sethi fall and then the gunman suddenly pointed the gun at her head. This happened just days after Mehakpreet, an Indian-origin teenager, was stabbed to the death in a Canadian high school parking lot.
