CBS News reported Monday that it confirmed Hunter Biden’s data from his former laptop. This was more than two years after The Post revealed its contents. The first son’s lawyer claimed he did not consent to the release.
The laptop connects President Biden to Hunter Biden and his brother Jim Biden’s foreign influence peddling. However, high-ranking ex-spy agency officials claimed that it was likely Russian disinformation. This story was censored by Twitter and Facebook .
Until recently, most news media ignored the contents of the laptop. CBS’s report comes after late verification of the laptop by the Washington Post, and New York Times.
CBS correspondent Catherine Herridge reported on CBS that Hunter Biden’s hard disk was given to her by John Paul Mac Isaac, a former Delaware computer repairman. Mark Lanterman, a former Secret Service computer crime expert, confirmed that the files were genuine.
The firm of Lanterman determined that the contents of the laptop accumulated over time as would be expected and that there was no evidence to suggest that they were altered by anyone outside.
Herridge didn’t specify which documents were authentic from the laptop. She said, however that she was confirmed by two sources that Joe Biden was the “big man” in an email from May 2017, which described a 10% side-deal as part of a deal made with a Chinese government-linked firm.
Herridge reported that two of Hunter Biden’s ex-business partners, and Tony Bobulinski received the email. They said that the 10% “held by H for big guy” was shorthand for the 10% Hunter held for his father. CBS News has not reached out to James Gilliar, the author of the email.
Mac Isaac claims Hunter Biden brought his laptop to Delaware and never took it back. After he alerted them to the contents of the laptop, he claims the FBI took the original laptop. He provided files from his device to The Post in October 2020.
“At no point did any individual including Mr. Mac Isaac have Mr. Biden’s consent to access his computer information or share it with other people,” Hunter Biden’s attorney Chris Clark told CBS.
Clark stated, but did not give any examples, that “there have been multiple attempts hack, infect and distort Mr. Biden’s devices and data.”
Rep. James Comer, a Republican who will be the House Oversight Committee’s new chairman, said Thursday that he would lead GOP efforts to find out more about Joe Biden and his family’s business ventures.
“This committee will determine if the president has been compromised or influenced by foreign money. Comer stated that this is an investigation into Joe Biden.
The Post’s first report from Hunter Biden’s laptop describes then-Vice President Joe Biden attending a 2015 dinner at DC’s Cafe Milano. His son invited a variety of associates, including a representative from Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company. This was during his father’s leadership of the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy.
According to documents on the laptop, Hunter Biden was also invited to the dinner by a trio from Kazakhstan and a Russian billionaire Yelena Bakurina and Yury Luzhkov, an ex-Moscow mayor.
Baturina was alleged to have paid $3.5million in 2014 too, a company associated with Hunter Biden. This is one of only a few Russian billionaires who did not face US sanctions as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine this year.
Online business records show that Hunter still owns a 10% share in BHR Partners. This Chinese state-backed private equity firm manages $2.1 million in assets, and plays a significant role in the acquisition of overseas assets.
BHR Partners was founded by Hunter Biden in 2013. This happened within weeks of Hunter joining Vice President Biden on Air Force Two’s official trip to Beijing, . According to laptop documents, Hunter presented his father to Jonathan Li, the incoming BHR CEO. Joe Biden then wrote college recommendation letters for Li’s children.
According to a review of laptop files by the Washington Post, Hunter and James Biden made $4.8 million in separate Chinese ventures that also included discussions about the “big guy” getting a cut
