
Wednesday’s cyber attack on the servers of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, MoHFW, was announced by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. According to the ministry, hackers from China infiltrated five physical servers. A top source said that the server attack was carried out by Chinese hackers. The probe revealed that the attackers originated in China. The hackers infiltrated five of the 100 servers, 40 physical and 60 virtual. Although the damage is contained, it could have been much worse. “Data in the five servers was successfully retrieved,” ANI quoted MoHFW.
The ransomware attack on the servers at AIIMS Delhi was being investigated by the National Investigation Agency ( NIA).
“I cannot comment on that because it is a subject of an investigation by NIA…It’s pretty clear that it’s a deliberate, targeted effort…a ransomware attacks on AIIMS…and NIA is investigating it,” Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for IT had stated on the sidelines CII Global Economic Policy Summit 2022.
Chandrasekhar had claimed last week that the ransomware attack against the servers of AIIMS Delhi was part of a conspiracy.

On November 23, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi was allegedly attacked by hackers, causing its servers to be paralysed. The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations unit (IFSO), Delhi Police, registered a case of cyber terrorism and extortion on November 25.
The cyberattack is being investigated by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
