
New Delhi (India), December 10, 2010 (ANI): This year’s India-Russia summit, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, is not likely to happen due to “scheduling problems,” sources claimed. Reports that PM Modi did not meet Putin because of nuclear threats are baseless. Sources tell ANI that the meeting is not being held due to scheduling problems. Many media reports suggested that Modi had cancelled the annual in-person summit due to Russian President’s threats to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. The sources claimed that the meeting between New Delhi, Moscow and Moscow was cancelled due to scheduling problems. They also said that it has nothing to do the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Since 2000, India and Russia have had an annual summit. In December 2021, Putin attended the Hyderabad House in New Delhi. This year, PM Modi was scheduled to fly to Moscow to attend the summit. In-person summits are not possible due to COVID-19. The 2021 2+2 Ministerial Dialog saw PM Modi and Putin sign an agreement to procure 6,01,427 assault rifles AK-203 from Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt Ltd under the military-technical cooper arrangement for 2021-31. India-Russia 2+2 Dialogue was the first bilateral 2+2 meeting between foreign and defense ministers. It took place in September at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Samarkand. In this meeting, Modi and Putin also signed an agreement for the procurement of 6,01,427 assault rifles AK-203 through Indo Russia Rifles Pvt Ltd. This agreement is part of the military-technical cooperation arrangement for 2021-31. The statement of PM Modi was also cited at the G20 Summit in Bali. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, India and Russia also agreed to “deepen cooperation” on counter-terrorism issues as well as “enhance bilateral coordination” with the United Nations.
