Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese billionaire, tweeted Monday that he would make a big announcement about space after meeting with Elon Musk, SpaceX’s owner.
Yusaku Maezawa is the founder of Zozo Inc online fashion website. He completed a tourist visit to the International Space Station (ISS), aboard a Soyuz spacecraft in Dec last year. Musk’s rocket and satellite company SpaceX will take him around the moon in 2023.
Musk, 47, tweeted that he had met with him online and could now make a big announcement on space on December 9.
Space enthusiasts will be the first to travel on a SpaceX lunar mission. A week-long fly-by is planned for 2023. This comes as commercial firms like Blue Origin and Jeff Bezos announce a new era of space travel for their wealthy clients.
Maezawa was the founder of Zozo, an online fashion retailer. Softbank Group Corp bought Zozo.
After Maezawa’s tweet Inclusive Inc, which offers space-related business using satellite data, saw its shares soar 11.7% to close at 1,171 Japanese yen.
