Bella Hadid and Kim Kardashian are two of the stars whose fans want Balenciaga to be banned for their troublesome advertisements featuring children wearing bondage-style harnesses.
After backlash, the luxe fashion house pulled the controversial campaign Tuesday. Balenciaga deleted all images from its Instagram the next day. however, left its Story highlights, including its apology regarding the bad news bears.
The extravagant brand said in a Wednesday statement to The Post, that it is business as usual and did not want you to misunderstand the social media scrub as a coverup of couture.
A representative noted that Balenciaga’s Instagram account is regularly wiped after each campaign, release of a collection, etc.”
These advertisements promoted Balenciaga’s spring 2023 collection which was launched this fall at Paris Fashion Week.
In the midst of all the fuss Wednesday, Hadid appeared to post then delete an insta carousel. It included photos from her Balenciaga campaign .
26-year-old supermodel has not condemned the fashion house publicly since the pull of the bear ads. Fans praised her for removing the photos.
One Instagrammer wrote, “Thanks for deleting that previous post.”
The 42-year-old Kardashian is being asked to speak out publicly against the company. The Skims founder has a long association with Balenciaga. He was photographed in the winter 2022 campaign, and walked in its Paris couture fashion show.
It’s fitting that the experience will be prominently featured in Thursday’s episodeof The Kardashians on Hulu.
Kardashian was said to be upset by the holiday campaign Wednesday by a source close to her. She is a mother and has never tolerated abuse or exploitation of children at any level.
According to the source, “After speaking privately with the Balenciaga staff, and seeing that they immediately removed campaign images from their website and issued an apology public, she feels hopeful that they have learned from the incident and that it will never happen again.”
Kardashian has been receiving a flood of Instagram comments from fans urging her not to run the ads.
“Nobody wants you to buy anything.” One angry fan wrote that had promoted a sale for her skin care line.
“Please raise your concerns about Balenciaga. One fan asked: “You cannot ignore it being that your have been such an avid supporter of them.”
Kim, when are you going to reply? Another asked, “Your reputation is at stake here.”
“You are a mother. “Don’t let it slip,” another mother of four said.
In the star-studded Paris runway event, Naomi Campbell, Dua Lipa and Nicole Kidman joined Kardashian. None of these women appear to have addressed the BDSM-style ads.
Kidman uploaded a photo from a Balenciaga campaign on Monday to Instagram. It was still available Wednesday evening.
The winter ’22 campaign featured stars like Alexa demie, Kim Yeonkoung and Khadim Sock. As of press time, they have also not publicly condemned the brand.
Lala Kent is the “Vanderpump Rules” star. However, called Balenciaga out via an Instagram Story. She stated that she was “glad not to own one piece of Balenciaga.”
