
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, December 7, 2008 (ANI): In a gun attack in the Bannu District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a Pakistani soldier was killed along with his son. Dawn reported that the incident occurred in Janikhel in Bannu’s Bannu district. According to police, Rehman Zaman, 45, was killed in the attack along with his 18-year-old son.
Dawn cites locals who claim that the attackers hanged the victim’s head from the Bachki market tree. Tribesmen discovered the body in the early morning and reported it to police. The police then transferred the bodies to Bannu’s district headquarters hospital for medical-legal formalities. Dawn reports that a case has been opened against unknown attackers at Janikhel’s police station. Dawn also stated that the investigation is ongoing. This was the worst year in eight years. Other than the targeted killings of the attackers, several police stations, posts, and vans were attacked with grenades over the past few months. The investigation was initiated by Dawn. (ANI)
