India Today Web Desk: On the occasion of his death, President Droupadi Mormu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi paid tribute to B R Ambedkar (the architect of India’s Constitution).
Today, PM Modi and President Murmu as well as Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar presented floral tributes at Parliament Complex.
Mahaparinirvan Diwas is a popular name for Dr Bhimrao, who was a Buddhist follower. According to Buddhist scriptures Lord Buddha’s death was Mahaparinirvan, the Sanskrit word for “nirvana after dying”.
PM Modi posted on Twitter: “On Mahaparinirvan diwas, I pay tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, and recall his exemplary services to our nation.” His struggle gave hope to millions, and his efforts in giving India such a comprehensive Constitution cannot be forgotten.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also posted Ambedkar’s photo on Twitter with the caption “My homage Babasaheb Ambedkar.” His message and life inspire us to fight for justice for all. Jai Bhim.”
Many leaders and ministers paid tributes to BR Ambedkar, a great social reformer and philosopher, anthropologist historian, writer, economist and scholar.
