Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli made a major announcement on Thursday night. Virat announced on his Facebook page that he had taken the decision to step down as captain. Virat declared that Virat Kohli will resign from T20 cricket after the T20 Cricket World Cup but will remain in charge of the Test and ODI teams. His wife and actor Anushka Sharma have also revealed her thoughts on his decision.
Let’s start by letting us discuss what Virat said to people on his social media accounts”I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to not just be a part of India but also be captain of the Indian cricket team. Thank you all for your support throughout this journey. It wouldn’t have been possible without my support staff, selection committee coach, and each Indian who expressed their trust in me and my chances of winning.
Kohli added that it is vital to know the demands of the job. Between 8 and 9 years in all three formats , and the last 5-6 years as captains were demanding. Therefore, I’d like to allow myself some time to take on the ODIs and Tests. I’ve given everything throughout my T20 captaincy.
In the future, I would like to develop as batsman. It was certainly some time to make this conclusion. After lengthy discussions and consultations with my colleagues, Ravi Bhai and Rohit Sharma (who made up a significant member of the leadership team) I’ve made the decision to step down as captain following the T20 World Cup in Dubai in October.
In the final paragraph, Virat wrote- ‘I have also spoken with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Sourav Ganguly about this. I will always be available to assist for the Indian cricket side. Virat Kohli began trending on social media right after the announcement was made. Although many people backed Virat’s decision, a few were sad. In the midst of all this the most significant person in Virat’s world, the wife Anushka Sharma has also backed the decision of her husband through her social media accounts.
