Monday’s Kremlin statement stated that moves by France and other Western nations to supply Ukraine weapons, including light tanks, would only make it more difficult for Ukrainians.
Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesperson, said that these deliveries could not and would not change anything. He was responding to reporters’ questions about France’s decision to send armoured vehicles into Ukraine last week.
Last week, the French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to send light tanks into Kyiv.
France would be the first Western country that sends tanks to Ukraine with the supply of the AMX-10 RC made in France. This light model has been in service since 1980.
According to the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin and President Macron are still in touch.
According to Mr Peskov, leaders staying in touch is “very helpful” despite deep differences.
After President Macron’s promise to send tanks into Kyiv, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was also faced with renewed calls to send tanks into Kyiv.
